Outdoor Safety Tips Brought to you by MEPB

Keep ladders, antennas, kites, and other objects away from power lines. If you have a problem up high, phone your utility. Don't take a chance.

Don't climb power poles, transmission towers, or trees near power lines.

If you see a downed power line, stay clear and warn others to stay away. Have someone call the electric utility immediately.

Never build a swimming pool or other structure under power lines.

Before digging, check with your utility about the location of underground power lines.

If a power line hits your car, stay inside unless the car is on fire. Then jump clear without touching metal and ground at the same time. Shuffle away keeping both feet on the ground.
